Puspakom inspection: what to expect and how to pass first time

Puspakom (Pusat Pemeriksaan Kenderaan Berkomputer) inspections are mandatory for vehicle registration changes, ownership transfers, and import approvals. Here is what you need to know.

B2 inspection — Ownership transfer

Required when transferring ownership of a used vehicle. Covers roadworthiness, lighting, tyres, and brakes. Takes about 30 minutes. Pass rate is high for well-maintained vehicles.

B5 inspection — Import approval

Required for recon/import vehicles before JPJ registration. More thorough than B2. Covers VIN verification, safety systems, emissions, and structural integrity.

B7 inspection — Modification approval

Required after any modifications (body kits, engine swaps, suspension changes).

  • Check tyre condition and pressure
  • Ensure no excessive smoke from exhaust
